Which BD Government Jobs Require a Typing Test?
Typing tests are mandatory for the following Bangladesh government positions:

Critical: All Bangladesh government exams use Bijoy keyboard layout. Practising only in Avro and attempting the exam in Bijoy is the most common reason candidates fail.
Required Speed & Accuracy
Minimum for most clerical posts: 20–25 WPM with 90–95% accuracy in both Bengali and English.
The "word" is standardised as 5 keystrokes. A requirement of "25 WPM" = 125 keystrokes per minute.
Candidates must pass both the Bengali and English components. Failing either disqualifies.
How the Test Is Conducted
- A passage appears on screen
- Candidate types for the specified duration (typically 5–10 minutes)
- System calculates net WPM and accuracy automatically
- Pass/fail determination is instant
Some exam systems penalise excessive backspace use. Practice with minimal corrections.
30-Day Preparation Plan
Week 1 — Bijoy layout basics Switch to Bijoy immediately. Accept the regression. Read Avro vs Bijoy. Target: 15 WPM in Bijoy.
Week 2 — Conjunct drilling Work through Top 50 Bengali Conjuncts in Bijoy. Target: 20 WPM.
Week 3 — Full passage typing Daily 5-minute timed tests on LearnType. Target: 23 WPM.
Week 4 — Mock tests Full exam-duration practice in exam conditions. Target: 26–28 WPM (10–15% buffer above requirement).
Common Mistakes
- Practising in Avro, sitting exam in Bijoy
- Practising only Bengali — forgetting English component
- Practising 1-minute tests — failing at 10-minute exam duration due to fatigue
