10 Common Mistakes When Typing Bengali Conjuncts (and How to Fix Them)
From missing hasants to wrong reph order — the 10 most common Bengali conjunct typing errors, why they happen, and exactly how to fix each one.

Why These Mistakes Happen
Most conjunct errors trace back to one root cause: memorising individual conjuncts without understanding the underlying system. Once you see the patterns, most of these mistakes correct themselves.
Mistake 1: Two consonants without hasant
Wrong: typing ক then ত separately → "কত" (two syllables: "kô-tô") Correct: ক + hasant + ত → ক্ত (one conjunct: "ktô")
Every conjunct requires hasant between the consonants. Without it you get two separate syllables. Full explanation: Hasant (্) Explained.
Mistake 2: Confusing reph and র-ফলা
Reph (র্): র comes before the other consonant → অর্ক, কর্ম র-ফলা (্র): র comes after the other consonant → প্রতি, ক্রম
In Avro: reph = rr before the consonant; র-ফলা = r after the first consonant.

Mistake 3: Wrong keystroke for ক্ষ
Wrong Avro sequences: ksh, qkh, kS
Correct: kkh or kx
See How to Type the Bengali Conjunct ক্ষ for all three valid paths.
Mistake 4: Wrong keystroke for জ্ঞ
Wrong Avro sequences: jgno, jn, gno
Correct: gg or capital J
See Mastering জ্ঞ — The Trickiest Bengali Conjunct.
Mistake 5: Forgetting the middle hasant in triple-consonant conjuncts
Wrong: স + ত + র = স্তর (a different word entirely) Correct: স + ্ + ত + ্ + র = স্ত্র
Every consonant transition in a triple conjunct needs its own hasant. See How to Type Difficult Bengali Conjuncts: হ্ম, ক্ষ্ণ, স্ত্র.
Mistake 6: Mixing up ম-ফলা and ম-initial conjuncts
ম-ফলা (্ম): ম comes after → পদ্ম, ব্রহ্ম, আত্মা ম-initial: ম comes before → সম্ভব, সম্মান, ক্ষমতা
The two groups require completely different keystrokes. See The Four Folas Explained.
Mistake 7: Misplaced য-ফলা
Wrong: বিদ্যা → typed as বিদায় (a completely different word meaning "farewell")
Correct Avro: bidya → বিদ্যা
য-ফলা must be typed as part of the conjunct, not as a standalone য after the word is already formed.
Mistake 8: Confusing vowel signs (কার) with independent vowels
আ-কার (া) and the independent আ look and sound similar but are structurally different characters. See Bengali Vowel Signs (কার): A Complete Typing Guide.
Mistake 9: Practising without measuring
Typing without tracking WPM and accuracy hides plateaus. Use LearnType's timed test after every session. The speed tips article explains how to use measurement to drive improvement.
Mistake 10: Trying to learn all conjuncts at once
